Fedora 7 CD Set Creation Using Revisor

Since the release of Fedora 7 we have received several requests for CD Sets instead of DVD. Using Revisor we have created such a set for systems with the i386 architecture. What we ended up with was an 11 CD Set of Fedora 7. If you do the math, you may notice that this even rivals the single DVD most people have already downloaded or purchased. This is because Revisor gives you the option to download every single package from any Yum repository,

including the latest updates and compile them onto bootable installation media using a fairly simple GUI wizard. So what we have ended up with is a "Complete" CD set of Fedora installation media for 32 Bit (i386) systems, including updates that are current as of June 15th, 2007.

When using Revisor you do have to muster up a bit of patience. Although you can configure it to create a set from the i386 ISO available on the Fedora FTP mirrors. To get a full set like this one took about 19 Hours straight. Mainly it was grabbing the 7 GB from the repository and checking of dependencies that took the longest. The other gotcha is that as of now you can only perform this feat on Fedora 7 systems. One way around this would be to download a Fedora Virtual Machine and create the CDs with it. As Revisor is still farily new, it does have a few of of its pending features greyed out and not yet enabled that should make the program even more useful in the future.
